Roots

Years ago, we at the Chenrezig Project created and distributed bumper stickers that read “Don’t Believe Everything You Think”
..
This idea was directed at a myriad of everyday situations, but perhaps found its most profound truth in revealing the nature of our judgments of others.

***

We are always working with faulty information . . . personally intuited, insufficient, out-of-date and/or just plain wrong.
..
As I sit looking at the endless trees out my window, I realize that each of them has deep-reaching roots buried in the ground, out of sight . . . and in the same way, every person we encounter has roots we cannot see.
..
Roots that contain and feed our histories, experiences, understandings (and misunderstandings), fears, joys, habits, perspectives and karmic blossoms.
And, of course, our judgments.
..
This is true of me (and you) as well.

If this resonates, consider keeping it in mind wherever you go, and while engaged in whatever you do.

Neither grief or a broken heart, or fear, precludes you from doing this.
